On the Day

We wish to welcome you at the venue from 1:30PM, with the ceremony beginning at 2:30PM.

After the wedding breakfast and speeches there will be a cèilidh – gàidhlig for meeting, this is a traditional Scottish dance. If you are unfamiliar with cèilidh dancing, don’t worry! There will be a caller on hand to explain the steps. We sincerely invite everyone to give the dancing a go, and if you’re worried about whether your shoes will be suitable, please feel free to remove them. Participation is encouraged over decorum. After the cèilidh, we will be playing some of the songs you suggest in your RSVP.

Getting around Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a very walkable city. The centre is not particularly large, though it is noted for its hills. There are frequent bus connections throughout, with a cap system on all Lothian busses when paying by contactless card. Our venue is located centrally within the historic New Town which means that there are a wide selection of hotels, but also puts it within a 10 minute walk of Waverly Station if you choose to stay north of the bridge and travel in by train. Edinburgh has strict restrictions on short-term-lets like AirBnB that are not present in Fife, and Scottish trains are generally reliable.

Dress Code

The dress code is eveningwear formal. If you wish to be creative with gendered clothes, we highly encourage this. As this is a wedding in Scotland, kilts and tartan are welcome, and if you do not have an appropriate family tartan, then tartan 11871 would certainly be an appropriate choice!

Photography

We will be hiring a professional photographer, and therefore kindly request that you do not take your own photos during the ceremony or during the speeches. Photos will be shared in the weeks following the wedding.

Gifts

Gifts are not required. If you do wish to give a gift, we kindly request that you do not give us physical items larger than a card, as we live a considerable distance from the venue. Monetary gifts may be provided by cash or cheque, or sent via bank transfer to:
